Self of the Therapist
Process Groups
Self of the Therapist (SOT) Process groups are offered to those in clinical practice including trainees. They are a meaningful and profound way to deepen one’s own self awareness and how that awareness can benefit our practice of therapy. They are offered in cohort style, 5-month long commitments. Dra. Curiel has trained with two of the most prolific educators and trainers in the area of Self of the Therapist (SOT), Dr. Kenneth V. Hardy and Person of the Therapist (POTT), Dr. Harry Aponte.
The SOT process group provide an opportunity to understand how the therapist’s "self" or “selves”—including personality, personal history, social location, and emotional reactions—impacts their work. By delving into their internal dynamics, therapists can more effectively and ethically use themselves to not only strengthen the therapeutic alliance, connect more deeply, and in a culturally responsive manner that ultimately facilitates healing and transformation.
Groups are limited to 5 participants in order to provide in-depth processing and analysis and participants must commit to the entire series. These groups are offered as a monthly on-line or in-person, 4 hour long gathering. $300 per person, per group or discount if paid in full.
*This group is only for mental health professionals who are currently clinically active (MFT, social work, counseling, any mental health trainees/associates).*
